Please pray for Pat who is currently undergoing chemo treatment for cancer in his right shoulder.

The doctors are working at shrinking the tumor in order to do surgery. Pray for him and his wife Patti as she has taken over the driving responsibilities.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works. Hebrews 10: 23, 24
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.  Ps. 115:1

Update: May 18, 2009

While in Florida recently, J.R. had a close call and we nearly lost him. Many family members went down to do what they could to get him back up to Michigan.

A HUGE THANK YOU goes to Wings of Hope who flew J.R. from Gainesville, FL to Jackson, MI. on May 14. Currently at 81 lbs, J.R. is now resting at his Aunt's home in Jonesville, Michigan.

Here is an update from J.R. himself...                            June 16, 2009

As you can gather by my return to your inbox, I must have survived Sunday's adventure to Michigan International Speedway with my boys!

If you had tried telling me or my family members a month ago that I would physically be able to go with my three boys to MIS to watch a NASCAR race in just one short month... everyone would have probably laughed you to scorn!

But, with God's continuing marvelous grace and sustenance, as you can see by the photo below, we made it!
And,..... what a wonderful day it was provided for the races!

The best part is that, in spite of the fact that I hadn't spent any significant time out doors for the past several months, the sustained exposure to the elements, noises, traveling and sitting time didn't seem to take any obvious extra toll on my body, physically or mentally. It was a very good day and I can't say how wonderful it is to be able to spend that kind of time with my kids! God is truly good!!! All the time!!!
What a GREAT early Father's Day gift it certainly was!
Thank you boys... and especially "Thank you Ryan", for seeing it through, finalizing the plans and also for pushing my wheelchair around that huge place!

In regards to my progress and physical condition: I am walking all over the house now, sometimes getting my own supplies and necessities, sitting on the toilet, and even standing on my own (and even a few times without the aid of my hands and arms). Just today I weighed myself, on the same scale that was used in Florida (when I was down to nearly 80 pounds), and I am now at 111 pounds! A considerable gain, wouldn't you say?

I also have some really great news about God's recent provisions for me to be able to attend church with a wheelchair: ..... A man named Jim Beardsley, from the Cambria area, has recently been instructed by the Lord to start a ministry to provide transportation for handicapped persons desiring to attend church services but who have no means of their own to transport wheelchair, etc.
Through the prayers of fellow church members (one being Stella Kiersey, as she prayed one night about it and the next day came across Jim Beardsley's wonderful ad in the paper and promptly got the message to me) I was able to contact Jim almost immediately and am now on his schedule for transporting to and from church; FREE OF CHARGE!!!
Now, how amazing is that!?!

Ok, that's going to have to do it for this update. I have been working most all of this afternoon and evening on trying to get caught up with my email correspondence. I have fallen soooo... far behind when it comes to replying and acknowledging friends' emails that I'm not sure I'll ever be able to catch up. Please do not get offended if you are one who has not, nor may not, receive a personal reply within reasonable time! I assure you I have all good intentions.

Take care to all!
And may the Lord continue to bless you and yours,
J.R. Ritter
It's a miracle!
